The Elms Day Nursery
The role of the Nursery Practitioner is to ensure that all children attending The Elms receive high quality care, are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs and support all aspects and components of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. This role will entail light domestic duties as and when required in the playrooms.
This position is graded at band 300, with salary ranging from £18,373 to £21,879

Nursery Support Operative
The Elms is looking for outstanding nursery support operatives to provide care to children aged 0-5 in line with nursery policies and procedures. You will work closely with a nursery practitioner to plan and prepare activities, whilst helping to manage the nursery’s day-to-day operations. This may involve keeping development records, supervising children at mealtimes, laundry duties, and maintaining playrooms and equipment.
There are multiple fixed-term contracts (up to 6 months) available for this position: 1 x 30 hours per week and 3 x 20 hours per week.
This position is graded at Band 200, with a full-time starting salary of approximately £17,886. There will be the opportunity to earn up to £19,804 (FTE) with progression in post.

The Elms is looking for a nursery/kitchen assistant to join their award-winning team. You will support the nursery’s kitchen coordinator with daily kitchen and mealtime operations and actively champion a healthy lifestyle across our 114-place nursery.
Your main duties will include delivering nutritionally balanced meals and snacks to our children – whilst considering any special dietary requirements and allergies – maintaining dining areas and ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest hygiene standards. To support the nursery’s commitment to the Startwell programme, you will also be responsible for organising fun, educational activities for our children, such as cookery classes and vegetable planting, to teach them about healthy eating and where their food comes from.
This position is graded at Band 200, with a full-time starting salary of £17,886-£18,181 depending on your experience. This is a permanent, part-time vacancy (30 hours per week).
Nursery Support Operative – Lunchtime Assistant
The Elms is looking for an outstanding nursery support operative to supervise children during lunchtimes (12pm-2pm) and ensure they’re getting the most from their time at nursery. You will work closely with the nursery team to maintain and organise the required staff-to-child ratio at mealtimes and deliver an excellent lunchtime experience for all ages (0-5 years).
Your main duties will include setting up the nursery’s lunchtime area and feeding children according to their age and weight. You will also provide appropriate play opportunities for the little ones in your care to make mealtimes as interactive as possible.
This is a part-time, part-year contract. The postholder will work for 12.5 hours per week for 38 weeks. These will be spread out throughout the year, during term time only.
This position is graded at Band 200, with a full-time starting salary of approximately £17,886. There will be the opportunity to earn up to £19,804 (FTE) with progression in post. The salary for this position will be pro rata.
