I have progressed in my professional development as I have taken on the opportunities that were provided, such as becoming a qualified Forest School Leader, taking on SENCo training and now moving up the ladder by taking on a Senior Practitioner role. It’s a lovely place to work. All the staff and management are very welcoming and the atmosphere is very warm. I have worked here for over ten years, and love how we all work as a team, helping and supporting each other. Once you’ve joined the staff at Birmingham Day Nurseries, you usually stay.
That’s because of a caring, supportive team environment that respects your needs, and understands that life can be challenging. You’ll find a genuine concern for staff welfare and morale is embedded in the way we do things – from fresh fruit and cereal in the staff room to Thank You cards showing how much you’re appreciated.
The management team have an open door policy, which makes staff feel that they can go and chat openly about their experiences when they feel that they need to talk or need support or advice, or even when they just need a listening ear. – Laura
Flexibility

Everyone’s needs are different.
You’ll find lots of part-time roles available if that suits you best, and support and understanding if your circumstances change.
The team were very supportive of me as an expectant mother. When I returned to work, I went into under 2s; I worked again as a senior on a part-time basis due to my child care…. I have completed numerous training courses to support me in my job role and have had lots of support and guidance from management to enable me to be where I am now. – Laura

Birmingham Day Nurseries are part of the University of Birmingham, and staff benefit from lots of great extras as a result.
You’ll have a total of 40 days annual leave a year pro rata, which includes Bank Holidays and a number of University closed days (for example around Christmas and Easter). You’ll be enrolled in the University’s pension scheme, which means your employer will contribute to your pension. You’ll be given a free uniform.
